Bennett Williams began visiting 30A in 1990 at the stark age of ten on family vacations. Over the years, the annual summer beach 30A family pilgrimage was a constant staple in his childhood and teenage years. And while 30A has changed and adapted since that time, it is still a collection of simplistic beach towns at heart. Similarly while Bennett is now middle aged with a career as a high school principal and a very active family, he's still an idealistic beach kid; sand bucket and shovel still in hand.
While the current season of life only permits a few trips a year (one day time will allow for more), writing short stories and novels that take place in his personal Heaven on Earth is always soothing to the soul. And sitting down late at night once the house is peaceful for an hour to mentally escape through the characters and places that exist on 30A is the equivalent of sliding his feet into the cool sand as he watches pelicans float through a kaleidoscope of colors during an emerald coast sunrise.
Soccer, baseball, swim team, cheerleading, and all the normal suburbanite activities that keep an active family of five busy are blessings and part of the reason why his plots and main characters resonate through the everyman family lens. The hope is each character and story is relatable and takes readers to what it means to be back on 30A. Thank you for visiting and here's to seeing you on the beach!
